First, join APA Division 5: Quantitative and Qualitative Methods. Then await an email with a link to a Google Form where you will designate SQIP as your section preference. (You may also join other section[s] of Div. 5 if desired.) See below for step-by-step instructions.

 

To RENEW Membership After Your First Year

Follow the instructions below for annual renewal. No need to designate your section preference(s) after your first year unless you have not already done so or you wish to modify your preference(s).

 

Division membership runs from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. Per APA, if you join or renew between Jan. 1 and the APA Annual Convention in mid-August of a given year, you will receive member benefits through the end of that year. If you join or renew between mid-August and Dec. 31, you will receive member benefits from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31 of the following calendar year.

MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS

Join Division 5 as an APA Member. You will have full voting rights in Divisional matters that include section governance. See the instructions below for joining Division 5. For your membership type (Step 2), select “APA Member” (if you have a doctoral degree), “Associate” (if you have a master’s degree), or Life Status (if you are over age 64 and have been an APA member for at least 25 years). If you are not already a member of APA, click here to join.

Join Division 5 as a Professional Affiliate. If you prefer not to join APA, you can also join Division 5 without APA membership. See the instructions below. For your membership type (Step 2), select “Professional Affiliate.”

Join Division 5 as a Student Affiliate. Students receive discounted membership dues (see above). See the instructions below for joining Division 5. For your membership type (Step 2), select “Student Affiliate.”

Join Division 5 as an International Affiliate. For qualitative researchers outside the U.S. or International Affiliates of APA. See the instructions below for joining Division 5. For your membership type (Step 2), select “International Affiliate.”

 

INSTRUCTIONS for JOINING SQIP and Annually RENEWING Your Membership

Note: These instructions are applicable for a standard computer. Screen placement may vary if you are using a phone or tablet.

1. Go to the APA Divisions page.

2. Enter your name, e-mail address, and membership type (APA member, associate, fellow, or life status; student, international, or professional affiliate). If you are not a member of APA, just leave the member number field blank.

3. A new screen will appear. Click on the “Add New Divisions” button (toward the bottom).

4. A new screen will appear. Click on the “Join Division” button next to Division 5: Quantitative and Qualitative Methods.

5. A drop-down menu will appear. Click on the “Add Division 5” button.

6. Click on the “Continue to Payment” button on the right side of the screen.

7. Enter your payment information and then click the “Submit Payment” button.

8. Look for a follow-up e-mail within two weeks. Note that it may go to your junk mail folder. Please e-mail APASQIP.membership.com if you do not receive this e-mail.

9. To prevent missing out on important SQIP news and announcements, follow the link in the follow-up e-mail to a Google Form where you will specify SQIP as your primary section. (You may also designate other sections as your secondary and/or tertiary sections.)
